Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how JossUp ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use jossup.com and the games we host there (the "Service"). We built JossUp to be usable without an account, and we designed data collection around that principle: we ask for as little as possible, keep it for as short as possible, and never sell it.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
To play a multiplayer room you enter a display name and pick an emoji avatar. These are shown to other players in the same room. During a round you may type answers, sentences, or votes; these are shown to other players in your room as the game requires.
Information collected automatically
When you visit jossup.com we (and the services we use) collect standard technical data: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the pages you visit on our site. We use this to keep the Service reliable, prevent abuse, and understand how features are used.
Anonymous authentication
To keep your session attached to your room and score, we sign you in anonymously using Firebase Authentication. This assigns you a random opaque user ID. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal identifier.
Uploaded content (Gungad)
The Gungad game lets you upload an image to use as the swat target. Uploaded images stay in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
2. How we use information
- To run multiplayer rooms and deliver game features you request.
- To measure aggregate usage so we can improve the product.
- To detect abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To display relevant advertising (see "Advertising" below).
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate JossUp:
- Google Firebase — hosting, anonymous authentication, and the Firestore database that stores active room state. Firebase's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage measurement.
- Google AdSense — advertising (see the next section).
4. Advertising and cookies
JossUp uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage entries to remember your display name and avatar between sessions. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.
5. Data retention
Active room data (players, scores, current-round submissions) lives in Firestore only while the room is in use. Inactive rooms are deleted automatically. We do not maintain long-term profiles of players.
6. Children's privacy
JossUp is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at abhid1293@gmail.com and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Because JossUp does not require an account, the amount of personal information tied to you individually is minimal. To make a request, email us at abhid1293@gmail.com.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.
